Family confirms: Whitney Houston coming to Teen Summit

 Whitney was notably absent from last year’s Teen Summit event where her aunt (Dionne Warwick), daughter (Bobbi Kristina), and mother (Cissy Houston) attended. Family sources confirm the legend will attend this weekend’s event.

Whitney’s sister-in-law and vice president for WhitNip Inc., Pat Houston, confirmed Tuesday that Whitney will be in Shelby this year.

Pat stated: “She has always wanted to come, but in the past her schedule has prevented her from coming,” Pat Houston said by phone from Detroit, where Whitney Houston is in pre-production for her upcoming movie, “Sparkle.”

What:  Fourth annual mentoring program, Teen Summit 2010 — “There’s No Place Like Home”

When: Begins Friday, Oct. 8

Where:  Private film screening Oct. 8 at the Don Gibson Theatre in Shelby; Dionne Warwick book-signing Oct. 9 at Celebrity Consignment in uptown Shelby and the main program held the same day at Palmer Grove Family Life Center in Kingstown.

Guests: Patricia Houston, Founder and Director of “Teen Summit,” as well as speakers and musicians including Warwick, Whitney Houston, BeBe Winans, Kim Burrell, Charles King, Ahmadiel Ben Yehuda and others.
