Heather Headley will play in the musical adaptation of "The Bodyguard" in London

20 years after the movie The Bodyguard (1992) to the movies with Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner, a musical adaptation will be launched in London in late fall 2012.

Heather Headley will have the honor to slip into the skin of Rachel Brown, a singer on the rise threatened by an unknown fan who will use the services of a bodyguard (Frank Farmer) she falls in love.

In 1997, Headley played the role of Nala in the original production of Broadway musical of the international success of The Lion King Elton John (music) and Tim Rice (lyrics). It now combines a career as an actress and R & B singer - in fact it has three solo albums to his credit: This Is Who I Am (2002), In My Mind (2006) and Audience for One (2009). Headley also regularly accompanies Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli in his concerts around the world.

Thea Sharrock (Cloud Nine, Equus) will stage the show while Alexander Dinelaris (Zanna Do not!, Still Life) by signing the book, which is not exactly consistent with the film. Despite the planned changes, we can still expect to find some success of the original soundtrack, including the cover of the song "I Will Always Love You" by Dolly Parton (1974). Recall that Whitney Houston's version became a worldwide hit and spent 14 weeks at the time the head of the "Billboard Top 100" in the United States. In addition to this record, it remains the single greatest success in Houston and continues to dominate the rankings of the best love songs of the past 25 years.

After London, the production of The Bodyguard is already planning to move to Broadway if all goes well.
